Dear
Colleagues and Friends,
It is my distinct
pleasure to welcome you to the 41st
Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology Congress (APAO
2026) in Hong Kong, China. As President of Academia
Ophthalmologica Internationalis (AOI), I am honored that
AOI once again serves as Co-Sponsor of this prestigious
annual summit, following our successful collaboration in
Bali, Indonesia, two years ago.
The significance of
our partnership extends far beyond institutional
cooperation. Globally, tens of millions of people suffer
from blindness, while numerous others live with moderate
to severe visual impairment. While many individual lives
are profoundly affected by preventable and treatable
conditions, the alliance between APAO and AOI represents
a powerful force in our collective mission to improve
eye health worldwide.
With this vision, AOI
is delighted to present three symposiums as part of the
APAO 2026 Scientific Program. We aim to share
cutting-edge research, innovative treatment modalities,
and best practices that can be implemented across
diverse healthcare settings.
The Asia-Pacific
region, with its unique challenges and opportunities,
serves as both a catalyst for innovation and a model for
global ophthalmological advancement. This congress
brings together the brightest minds in ophthalmology and
visual sciences from across the world. We look forward
to exchanging ideas with each of you to forge new
pathways in patient care, research collaboration, and
educational excellence.
I extend my warmest
wishes for a productive and inspiring congress. May your
time in Hong Kong be filled with meaningful connections,
groundbreaking discoveries, and invaluable insights to
elevate scientific knowledge and patient outcomes to a
new level!
Sincerely,
Richard L. ABBOTT
